The Odyssey Part 2

For this week's blog post I will be stating what role weaving played in the Odyssey. There are main instances were weaving is mentioned in the book. The impacted this did to the story, in my opinion, is give roles to people. Usually, the wife or a maiden would be weaving in their free time or as a chore. An another role this made was for the males. They were usually off on quest or adventures. Weaving was not the main cause of these stereotypes it was just an adding factor to it.

The Odyssey

In the beginning of the Odyssey book 1, it said to "Speak Memory -" and ends in "And tell the tale once more in our time." This quote sets up the book really well. With this quote, it will show the topics and the themes the Odyssey is trying to share with us. To "Speak with Memory" is to be historically accurate. The last part of the quote "And tell the tale once more in our time." will give us a better understanding. This is a big part. None of us were there, we are interpreting this in many different ways compared to how the people of that time would have interpreted it.

Education for Fredrick Douglass

Education is a tricky thing. The present day most of the world believes that everyone should be allowed to learn and get an education. When slavery was legal it did not matter to the white man that the blacks got an education but in the 21 century, it matters that everyone gets an education. The main reason why education is so important, from my perspective is to show equality. Most countries have some sort of public school program. This is there to give everyone a chance, other words having an equal start. What happened to Fredrick and other slaves was trouble and in some places now we still have these problems but the difference is there illegal. We are trying to help eliminate those how are breaking the law. There are main reasons why this is bad but the reason that stands out to me is not everyone is getting a chance to live a good life.

How is education related to human freedom?

The prompt for this weeks’ blog post is how is education related to human freedom? There are many reasons why education is related to human freedom, but the main one I will be talking about is evolution. In the beginning, a person's job was to survive. Now since we have a different way of life, we don’t have to be in survival mode 24/7. We have time to do other things like getting a better education. We as a species have evolved and we have evolved very similarly in the body and in the mind. We are all very similar, we can all learn the only thing stopping us now is how hard you try. So when another person tell a specific race that they are now allowed to learn or even try to learn. That person is now withholding them and or stopping them from making their own decisions on how to live their life, conflicting with their freedom.
